The Bark Shoppe’s main focus is your pets' health in and out of the shop, and we want to make sure we keep you informed to make the best decision for you and your furry friend. With that, we want to make sure our community is informed about the recent parvovirus outbreak that has affected the city's dog population. Parvovirus, also known as Canine parvovirus type 2 or CPV-2, is a highly contagious virus that can lead to severe illness and even death in dogs if left untreated. As such, it is crucial to take the necessary steps to protect your dog from this virus.
The recent parvovirus outbreak in NYC has been traced back to dog parks and other communal areas where dogs come into close contact with one another. This is a reminder that it is vital to practice good hygiene and cleanliness when dealing with dogs, especially in shared areas.
At The Bark Shoppe, we have implemented several measures to make sure the environment is safe for all. We have increased our cleaning and disinfecting protocols to ensure that all surfaces and equipment are thoroughly sanitized after each use. This includes disinfecting our grooming tables, brushes, clippers, tools and dog run.
We also require all dogs that come to our store to have up-to-date vaccinations, including the parvo vaccine. This not only protects the dogs themselves but also helps prevent the spread of the virus to other dogs in our store.
By working together, we can keep our furry friends safe because a clean (and vaccinated) pet is a healthy pet.
Also, as summer (and summer travel) approaches, we want to remind you that The Bark Shoppe does more than just grooming! Our boarding and daycare services are available to make sure your pet is well cared for while you're away. Call us at (646) 590 -1902 to learn more.
