BOOKING POLICIES
The Bark Shoppe requires an appointment scheduled 24 hours in advance for all services. All Grooming and Bathing appointments require a 50% deposit when booking online or over the phone. If a customer rebooks for a new appointment at the time of checkout, we waive the deposit.
Clients who try to book an appointment less than 24 hours in advance will be added to the waitlist. Our waitlist does not guarantee a same-day appointment.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Bark Shoppe requires that all pet parents are reachable by phone during the time of their service so any questions or necessary changes can be communicated. If a change in service needs to be made, The Bark Shoppe will wait no more than 15 minutes to receive a return call from the client before making the decision about what service changes will be implemented or avoided (at cost of the client).
WALK-INS
If we are able to accommodate, walk-ins are welcomed daily until 2PM for Grooming services. There is a same-day fee applied to all services.
PICK-UP TIMES
The Bark Shoppe will contact the owner approximately 15-20 minutes prior to pet's service completion and we allow the pet parent an additional 30 minutes from the initial 15-minute call to pick up pets. Pets not collected in that time span will be taken to Daycare and a "Groom & Play" charge will be added to the bill. All pets not collected by 6PM will be charged an automatic Boarding fee of $55 for the night and will be available for pick-up by 11AM the next business day to avoid an additional full-day Daycare charge.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All appointments must be canceled a minimum of 24 hours in advance to receive a full refund. Rescheduling an appointment on the same day will be deemed a Cancellation, but you will receive a 50% credit of the full service toward the rescheduled appointment. We do not accept same-day cancellations, the 50% deposit will be forfeited. The Bark Shoppe has a 15-minute grace period for all scheduled appointments and a $15 Late Fee will be applied to your service after the initial 15 minutes.
AGGRESSIVE DOGS
Safety comes first for everyone during the grooming process for both our groomers and your pet. Please inform us prior to grooming if your pet has bitten someone or has past aggression issues. We are able to handle difficult pets, but only if we are aware and prepared. We will set up a schedule and work with them and their behavior to the best of our ability but we will not push any animals. If a dog is so traumatized or stressed about the grooming process, we will stop the service and recommend you speak with your veterinarian about medication to help calm your pet so he can be groomed safely. You will only be charged for the amount of work accomplished to that point.
SENIOR DOGS
Grooming procedures sometimes can be stressful, especially for a Senior Pet or a pet with health problems. As they have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. We require a Senior Pet liability waiver to be signed in advance of any services for pets 12 years and old. We reserve the right to stop the grooming process at any time if we feel it is in the best interest of the dog. We will use extra care and patience for older pets; however, we will not be held responsible for any reaction due to the mental or physical stress of grooming the geriatric pet.
MATTED DOGS
Removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to warts, moles, or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, revealing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes.
It is our policy to dematt a dog's coat only once in order to make the pet comfortable and to start re-building the coat. Dematting can be painful for your dog and is unpleasant for both dog and groomer alike. After the dematting process you should be able to maintain the dog’s coat between grooming appointments. The Bark Shoppe reserves the right to refuse grooming if your dog becomes heavily matted again after the initial dematting. Dematting carries an additional charge that might not be found until the beginning of grooming, but we will notify the owner of the need to dematt and the charge immediately before commencing the service. Those pets with such heavy matting will have to then be shaven. We will not attempt to save the coat after this initial dematting.
VACCINATION POLICY
All vaccinations must be current and up-to-date. We require the following vaccinations:
Dogs : Rabies, Da2pp or DH2PP and Bordetella
Cats: Rabies and FVRCP
Please confirm all of your pet's vaccinations are up-to-date by calling or emailing the store at least 24 hours prior to booking your appointment. If you arrive at our facility without up-to-date vaccinations, you will have the option to reschedule your pet's appointment to be completed within seven days. A 50% deposit will be held for the rescheduled appointment and if it is not completed within that seven days the 50% deposit will be forfeited.
If you are a first-time visitor, or haven't visited the store within a year, please double check your pet's vaccine statuses. We will do our best to check prior to arrival, but will not be held responsible for the accuracy of vaccine statuses.
